OPPIKOPPI 2010

I thought I would share some of my favourite outfits of Oppikoppi 2010( a 3-5 day Music Festival).
The  Fashion theme I developed through out the festival was " Dirty hIPPIES"
This young lady went for the all out rock 'n' roller look, sporting pretty cool leopard print stockings with army boots and a cool cowboy hat!I especially love the printed-T!

This is a very simple but still striking look... love the sunnies!
This coral dress was one of my favourites, especially for Oppikoppi, it was so fresh and simple. The boots was a nice touch, it just rounded off the outfit without making it look too overpowering.

This vintage dress I enjoyed especially...the contrass with her dark hair worked very well.
The shades of green in this dress was such a breath of fresh air, between the dust and dirt of Oppi. The detail on the top part of the dress just complimented the whole soft feel... I am just not sure about the black lace leggings, it seems a bit overpowering?

In true Hippie style, this lady was ready for the festivities. The tie-dye look was making a huge comeback and I saw a lot of it at Oppi. The clash of her red hair and colourful top made this girl draw attention immediatly!

These two stylish ladies had the vintage look down to a "T". Love the florals!
Coming back to the whole Hippie scene, this girl had the John Lennon T-shirt as well as the big "earthy" necklace. The brown complimented her well, and I loved the natural feeling of it all.
Again we see the tie-dye, this dress reminded me a lot of the flea-market dresses we so often see, but this girl just chose the right time to wear it, the Cannibus leaves are a nice touch, in true Oppikoppi spirit!

Easter....

This easter weekend was a bit of a up hill batlle for me... I was undecisive on a lot of things... in the fisrt place I didnt even realise it was easter weekend untill 2 days before, by then everyone had already made plans of their own, and to my suprise, no one included me...? Very pathetic I know, oh well, then facing the reality of being alone in my flat for more than 2 days, I had to have a game plan, physical and psychological, cause I am one of those people who tend to loose their minds when left alone for a long period in time....I decided since this is my time to shine and have my clame to fame, I'm just going to put my head into work.... It's day 3 now, and I'm actually not doing to bad... My work is making progress and I even took time to paint my nails....

Bittereinder

The band was formed in 2009 and their first debut album - 'n Ware verhaal, was launched in  October 2010. Their sound can be described as Afrikaans rap, a combination of rythm and POETRY...
I attended one of their shows at Tings & Times Pretoria, one of the cities this band raps about... here is what I saw...
Roxanne Maritz, her style is clearly very unique and interesting, she pulled off this sailor look flawlessly!
This girl rocked the whole Rock 'n' Roll look... the leopard print jersey (JayJays)  being very popular this season. A printed t-shirt, Black leggings and Fearless heels! the bag added a very cool touch to this outfit. a interesting and daring combination... but it works.

this lady just had a very unique dress that immediatly cought my attention... The colour conbination is very suprising as well as the items she combined it with...

The Pretoria ladies are slowely starting to play around with different fabrics..... Here we have two gals with very interesting fabric choics... the knitted top and skirt add something different to what the youth is currently going for... and the coral dress also has a very tailored 50's feel... the denim waistcoat gives it that casual feel....

simple, earthy and cool....

A new day....

I recently quit my job as a manager in a boutique.... I was actually quite lucky to have found the job in the first place, only graduating that same year and already being promoted to manager was a big deal for me... But being the creative free spirit that I am, I soon realised the job wasn't creatively stimulating.I soon found myself in the rat race we call working-class and retail for that matter makes the race even longer. Even though I learned a lot and probably won't get it that easy at another company, I just came to the conclusion that I'd rather be poor and happy, than to have a job and not be... So now my persuite to happiness has started and I am going at it fully armed and ready... I am at the stage where the entrepreneur will start, the first step, and even though its a bit scary and the factor of the unkown freaks the living shananigens out of me, I will do the best I can. Like I always say; "you'll never know if you dont try!" So watch this space, whether its designing, sewing, styling or photography I am taking South Africa by storm!!!!
This was a very inspiring outfit!
The printed dress, stocking and fabulous red ankle boots!
as well as the fringed bag. this girl definitely added a special touch with her accessories!

the nerd look....

a BIG trend among the youth of Pretoria currently is the "NERD LOOK" as I like to call it. I think it actually empowers the youth to say, I am wearing these odd looking nerdy glasses, for the sake of fashion, and I am an individual, I dont care....
