Spring Summer 2010/2011 Piccadilly Red photoshoot.

This was my 4th year end year range... It was a very calm and collected time of my life. The Hippie influence was greatly expressed through my designs.

Making my home GREEN!

For a while now its been bothering me that I am not doing my part to help mother earth survive these harsh times. I am contributing to the polution and waste but not doing anything to help. So me and some friends mine came up with ways to make our flats eco-friendly, or even just to help the environment....
This is "MOP-MAN " with a very important message!

This was what we did at my flat as our "going-green" test run;
firstly I decided to pre-sort my trash...I came up with a simple plan, to use those buckets you get at music festivals or any place where they sell alcohol at a special price and you recieve it in a bucket, students will know what I am talking about. I managed to get 4 buckets over a period of time and then started pre-sorting my rubbish: PAPER / PLASTIC / GLASS and Old fruits & veggies (I'll come to them now). Altough it's still a work in progress the main idea is to get my whole block of flats's dustbins to also be labelled like above and then all the tendants will start pre-sorting their trash aswell. This will benefit the garbage collectors a lot, because outside our block of flats you will always find these guys off the streets collecting the plastic and glass out of the trash cans, they then take them to recycling companies and get money for it. Thus you will also be helping them!
A really great place to find out more about recycling and how we can help is Wholeearth. They sell a range of products that make recycling easier! Visit their website http://www.wholeearth.co.za to find out more about this awesome company!

My herb and vegetable garden...

Here we are planting the seeds for my garden, we planted; Sweet Rocket, Little Finger Carrots, Lettuce, Sweet Basil, Spring Onions, Cherry Tomato's and Lemon Balm. But you can plant what ever you like!
Becuase I wanted my garden to be organic I made my own Fertilizer from the old fruits and veggies that I pre-sorted! All you need is a place in your garden where it can get a bit messy. Take all your garden waste, old fruits & veggies, even leftover charcoal from your braai the previous night and throw it on a pile mixing it with the soil. Then just leave it for the bugs to make their houses in their. In a week or so if you dig up inide your pile, you will see bugs running around. That's a good sign it means your fertilizer is nice and fertile! All you do is take a lillte bit of the fertilizer and sprinkle it over your garden. Also remember to water it so it stays nice and moist!

 This is my garden...since it grew I have made some tasty salads and I cannot describe how rewarding it feels to eat something you grew yourself!
